The blazing hot film, 365 DNI (365 Days,) is taking Netflix viewers and social media by storm. The film is based on the first installment of a book trilogy by Blanka Lipinska.

The polish film is causing quite a stir.

While the film has some scorching love scenes, it's amped up fully loaded, by the fact that actor Michele Morrone graces the screen with his presence. That man is walking sin. He's a delicious looking specimen.

His face, his mouth, what he does with his mouth, his swag, his temper, his impressive package, his neck grabs...

Chile...

Just....just watch the film if you haven't already.

Hell, watch it again if you have.

Morrone has become quite popular,

His Instagram now has over nine million followers. At the start of the film streaming in America on Netflix, he was at 900,000 followers.

Photo via Morrone's Instagram

Needless to say, this film has skyrocketed his name.

As well it should.

Oh, by the way, the chemistry between the actors that portray characters, mob boss, Don Massimo Torricelli and Laura Biel, is off the chain

There's been some serious rumblings that a sequel will be happening. Can't wait for that....and perhaps since it's based on a trilogy, a third installment will be on the horizon as well.

Last month's book of the month selection (May 2018) was the superb fun read 'There's Someone Inside Your House' by Stephanie Perkins. Where to begin with this deliciously creepy read? I'm an avid fan of horror movies and horror stories. So it was a complete thrill that this book encompassed the thrill of a horror movie and infused it so seamlessly into a chilling novel.

I have to say if felt more in the realm of the Scream movie franchise, but far more gruesome.

This was not a let down effort. The story was unnerving. It was edge of your seat suspense, a chilling ride to the end.

Grab a copy of this horror gem and get your spook on.

As always...happy reading!
Synopsis:

Camellia Beauregard is a Belle. In the opulent world of Orleans, Belles are revered, for they control Beauty, and Beauty is a commodity coveted above all else. In Orleans, the people are born gray, they are born damned, and only with the help of a Belle and her talents can they transform and be made beautiful. But it's not enough for Camellia to be just a Belle. She wants to be the favorite—the Belle chosen by the Queen of Orleans to live in the royal palace, to tend to the royal family and their court, to be recognized as the most talented Belle in the land.

But once Camellia and her Belle sisters arrive at court, it becomes clear that being the favorite is not everything she always dreamed it would be. Behind the gilded palace walls live dark secrets, and Camellia soon learns that the very essence of her existence is a lie—that her powers are far greater, and could be more dangerous, than she ever imagined. And when the queen asks Camellia to risk her own life and help the ailing princess by using Belle powers in unintended ways, Camellia now faces an impossible decision.

With the future of Orleans and its people at stake, Camellia must decide—save herself and her sisters and the way of the Belles—or resuscitate the princess, risk her own life, and change the ways of her world forever. Dhonielle Clayton creates a rich, detailed, decadent world of excess and privilege, where beauty is not only skin-deep, but a complete mirage.

Weaving deeper questions about the commodification of women's bodies, gender equality, racial identity, and vanity with high-stakes action and incredible imagery, The Belles is the must-read epic of the season.

Summer reading is always a joy. Finding the time to take a moment and crack open a book you've anticipated reading is a glorious way to relax after a busy week. My TBR pile continues to grow, but that's a good thing. Trust me...it just solidifies the fact that in the literary world, there continues to be interesting writers releasing quality work...creating new stories to uncover and devour.

It’s been ten years since Nicolette Farrell left her rural hometown after her best friend, Corinne, disappeared from Cooley Ridge without a trace. Back again to tie up loose ends and care for her ailing father, Nic is soon plunged into a shocking drama that reawakens Corinne’s case and breaks open old wounds long since stitched.

The decade-old investigation focused on Nic, her brother Daniel, boyfriend Tyler, and Corinne’s boyfriend Jackson. Since then, only Nic has left Cooley Ridge. Daniel and his wife, Laura, are expecting a baby; Jackson works at the town bar; and Tyler is dating Annaleise Carter, Nic’s younger neighbor and the group’s alibi the night Corinne disappeared. Then, within days of Nic’s return, Annaleise goes missing.

Told backwards—Day 15 to Day 1—from the time Annaleise goes missing, Nic works to unravel the truth about her younger neighbor’s disappearance, revealing shocking truths about her friends, her family, and what really happened to Corinne that night ten years ago.

Like nothing you’ve ever read before, All the Missing Girls delivers in all the right ways. With twists and turns that lead down dark alleys and dead ends, you may think you’re walking a familiar path, but then Megan Miranda turns it all upside down and inside out and leaves us wondering just how far we would be willing to go to protect those we love.

“Hawkins is at the forefront of a group of female authors—think Gillian Flynn and Megan Abbott—who have reinvigorated the literary suspense novel by tapping a rich vein of psychological menace and social unease… there’s a certain solace to a dark escape, in the promise of submerged truths coming to light.” —Vogue

A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged.

Left behind is a lonely fifteen-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from—a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

With the same propulsive writing and acute understanding of human instincts that captivated millions of readers around the world in her explosive debut thriller, The Girl on the Train, Paula Hawkins delivers an urgent, twisting, deeply satisfying read that hinges on the deceptiveness of emotion and memory, as well as the devastating ways that the past can reach a long arm into the present.

Synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed.

Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name. Some cops and the local drug lord try to intimidate Starr and her family. What everyone wants to know is: what really went down that night? And the only person alive who can answer that is Starr.

But what Starr does—or does not—say could upend her community. It could also endanger her life.
Last month, the October book of the month pick was the engrossing thriller The Good Widow by Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke. It's been a busy and hectic time, so it's been a minute since I've posted on The Chocolate Chick. I definitely wanted to pop in and update the blog with a few posts, including the October book of the month post.

While this post is late, the book of the month selection was posted under the book of the month section on the right of the blog page or at toward the end of the blog page if on a mobile device on October 6, 2017. The book of the month selection will always be posted by the the 10th of the month in that section, even if the blog post is not up at the time.

The Good Widow is must read roller coaster thriller that will leave you reeling.

The November book of the month selection will be posted in the book of the month section tomorrow!
Synopsis:

Elementary school teacher Jacqueline “Jacks” Morales’s marriage was far from perfect, but even in its ups and downs it was predictable, familiar. Or at least she thought it was…until two police officers showed up at her door with devastating news. Her husband of eight years, the one who should have been on a business trip to Kansas, had suffered a fatal car accident in Hawaii. And he wasn’t alone.
For Jacks, laying her husband to rest was hard. But it was even harder to think that his final moments belonged to another woman—one who had left behind her own grieving and bewildered fiancé. Nick, just as blindsided by the affair, wants answers. So he suggests that he and Jacks search for the truth together, retracing the doomed lovers’ last days in paradise.
Now, following the twisting path of that fateful road, Jacks is learning that nothing is ever as it seems. Not her marriage. Not her husband. And most certainly not his death…

This is definitely a late post. But, it is a crazy busy time and of course that is a good thing. On top of that, it's my favorite time of the year. I'm obsessed with winter and the holiday season. While I love to read in general, there is something about finding time to read on a cold day, curled up with a good book and cup of hot chocolate or coffee.
The book of the month selection for June 2017 is Carter & Lovecraft by Jonathan L. Howard. I must admit, one of the main reasons I wanted to read this novel was due to the fact that the story would encompass the H.P. Lovecraft theme in a very different and unique way. Throw in a former detective, grisly murders, paranormal events and a descendant of H.P. Lovecraft. It just screams...a must read. And of course, any story that includes a quaint bookstore is a winner in my eyes. But, this is all premature, because I am just beginning to read what I hope will be a page turning win.
First he inherits a bookstore in Providence from someone he's never heard of, along with an indignant bookseller who doesn't want a new boss. She's Emily Lovecraft, the last known descendant of H.P.

Then people start dying in impossible ways, and while Carter doesn't want to be involved, he's beginning to suspect that someone else wants him to be. As Carter reluctantly investigates, he discovers that H. P. Lovecraft's tales were more than just fiction, and he must accept another unexpected, and far more unwanted, inheritance.

Synopsis:

From New York Times bestselling author of the “twisty-mystery” (Vulture) novel In a Dark, Dark Wood, comes The Woman in Cabin 10, an equally suspenseful and haunting novel from Ruth Ware—this time, set at sea.

In this tightly wound, enthralling story reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s works, Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first, Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant: the cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for—and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong…

With surprising twists, spine-tingling turns, and a setting that proves as uncomfortably claustrophobic as it is eerily beautiful, Ruth Ware offers up another taut and intense read in The Woman in Cabin 10—one that will leave even the most sure-footed reader restlessly uneasy long after the last page is turned.

The book of the month selection for December is titled Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. I was instantly interested in choosing this novel as my next read simply by the title as well as the lure of the infamous murderer Jack the Ripper. It doesn't hurt that the book is presented by James Patterson who happens to be one of my favorite authors. I was also intrigued to pick up a debut novel. Debut reads are important to the writers as well. It is always interesting to see what is put forth in a writer's first effort.

This month's book pick, Stalking Jack the Ripper, sounds like one hell of a read. The story centers around a young woman who's interested in murders that are happening quite frequently. She begins to investigate and pours over the forensic evidence. Jeopardizing her safety and her life, she becomes involved in trying to solve the murders being committed by a serial killer. But will she get too close to the truth?

The debut novel from Kerri Maniscalco takes place in 1888. The spin of history with good old fashion storytelling is a recipe for a macabre thrill. I can't wait to begin reading Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco.

As always...happy reading!

Synopsis:

A #1 New York Times Bestseller!

Presented by James Patterson's new children's imprint, this deliciously creepy horror novel has a storyline inspired by the Ripper murders and an unexpected, blood-chilling conclusion...
Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

I have been crazy busy, but I wouldn't want it any other way. I usually strive to post my book of the month selections during the first week of each month. But recently this has not been the case due to time restraints. Anywho...

Regardless of a hectic schedule, I make sure to find the time to relax with a good book. I've also had the pleasure of reading a couple of fab reads in the last month or two but haven't found the time to post about them. However I will do so at some point.

The book pick for the month of November is a suspense thriller that I have been dying to read.
The bestselling novel The Heiresses by Sara Shepard is a story that centers around a wealthy family that is shrouded in secrets and dangerous lies. After a tragic event, this family must come together and piece together a dark mystery before it kills them off one by one.

The Heiresses is a page turner written by the author of the Pretty Little Liars book series, which is now a wildly popular television show. My mindset is ready for a suspense thriller, so I surely hope this will be a good one. Somehow I don't think it will be a disappointment.
Fall is here and I have to say I'm very giddy about that. This is my favorite time of the year. It is the beginning of the build up to the holiday season. The fact that Halloween is almost here is a thrill as well. I associate Halloween with all things scary. So this gives me yet another reason to watch horror movies, which leads to Halloween night...a tradition of watching iconic horror movies. But of course...I simply cannot forget to mention the joy of curling up with a good book or a kindle, grabbing a comfy throw and a huge mug of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows during the Fall/Winter seasons.

The October book selection is a book that captures a reader's interest with just the intricate plot dynamic. A young girl sets out to get revenge on the person she feels is responsible for her friend's death and the deaths of others. But is all what it seems? I cannot wait to find out.

It is so crazy when it's time to choose a book of the month selection. I literally have to stop from listing at least three books to the mix. Specifically for the 'book of the month' picks. This is of course a direct result of my very lengthy TBR book list. The smorgasbord of anticipated reads that I want to devour continues to grow.
In addition, my personal reading time is being cut significantly now that school has started back. Not to mention a hectic work schedule. But I wouldn't change a thing at this moment.

Well...maybe just an extra two hours added onto the day for reading. *Sighs*

Anywho, moving on.

I'm seriously hyped about the book pick for September. I can't wait to start reading it. This young adult dystopian novel centers around a biracial young woman who has it all, which includes living a perfect life. She is part of the elite society...the flawless society. The flawed population is treated just as you would expect second class rated citizens to be treated and worse. But that is the punishment that was bestowed to an individual based on the flaw or act that was violated in the eyes of the powers that be. Celestine makes a decision that changes the scope of her life completely. She must fight the very society that she was once a part of.

The September book of the month selection is Flawed by Cecelia Ahern. Flawed sheds a light on social injustices in a dystopian world. However when it's all said and done based on the world we live in today. Is that world really so different?
Grab a copy of FLAWED and immerse yourself with a good book.

As always...happy reading.

Synopsis:

Celestine North lives a perfect life. She's a model daughter and sister, she's well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she's dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.
But then Celestine encounters a situation in which she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found FLAWED.
In her breathtaking young adult debut, bestselling author Cecelia Ahern depicts a society in which perfection is paramount and flaws are punished. And where one young woman decides to take a stand that could cost her everything.

I'm a fan of Terry McMillan's novels, yet realized I hadn't read her recent work. I Almost Forgot About You was also one of the books I wanted to read this summer. Terry McMillan's writing style flows with such a matter of fact, in your face narrative that you can appreciate as a reader.
As we begin to really get into summer, the anticipation of delving into new reads and uncovering gems along the way is still there. While I don't post every book I read, I like to at least post a book of the month and highlight additional books of various genres periodically. For the month of July, comes a thrilling page turner from bestselling suspense author James Patterson w/ David Ellis. The July 2016 book of the month selection is The Murder House.

I wanted my next read to be a mystery thriller and The Murder House seems like it might fit the bill.
Whenever you mix wealth, revenge and murder together, the end result is usually laced with a shocking twist that leaves readers baffled at the end. Of course, that's what a good suspense novel is supposed to do. Regardless of the complexities of the story, a suspense thriller should leave a reader with questions, but ultimately and seamlessly crafts a mind blowing mystery that keeps you guessing till the end.

No. 7 Ocean Drive is a gorgeous, multi-million-dollar beachfront estate in the Hamptons, where money and privilege know no bounds. Neglected, empty, and rumored to be cursed, it's known as the Murder House, and locals keep their distance.

Detective Jenna Murphy used to consider herself a local, but she hasn't been back since she was a girl. Trying to escape her troubled past and rehabilitate a career on the rocks, the former New York City cop hardly expects her lush and wealthy surroundings to be a hotbed of grisly depravity. But when a Hollywood power broker and his mistress are found dead in the abandoned Murder House, the gruesome crime scene rivals anything Jenna experienced in Manhattan. And what at first seems like an open and shut case turns out to have as many shocking secrets as the Murder House itself, as Jenna quickly realizes that the mansion's history is much darker than even the town's most salacious gossips could have imagined. As more bodies surface, and the secret that Jenna has tried desperately to escape closes in on her, she must risk her own life to expose the truth--before the Murder House claims another victim.
If you're looking for something new to read that is a dark romance laced with edgy and shocking plot twists; The Twist Me Trilogy by Anna Zaires is a blazing series you must pick as one of your summer reads. This is the first series I've read by Anna Zaires, but it won't be the last.

Need more convincing?

My quick summary of the series:

It's graduation time...Nora is hyped. She's about to turn 18, the guy she crushed on in high school finally shows interest and come fall...she will start college. All is well..until she meets Julian. Julian is older, sinfully stunning and extremely dangerous. Julian becomes disturbingly obsessed with Nora. Leading him to do the unthinkable. The real "twist" is hella crazy. Julian's past unfolds and Nora can't help but be drawn to the man she despises...a man that kills. But, sometimes...all is not what it seems.

You will quickly get caught up in this astonishing series that is filled with shock, intrigue, suspense and a dark romance that will leave you baffled...but, perhaps not in the way you think it will.
With summer comes a little more time available to enjoy even more great reads. In my case, I'm also giddy at the prospect of finally being able to dive in on my TBR pile and unearthing the stories that I simply could not wait to read any longer.

The book of the month selection for June is one of those gems that was ranked high on my TBR list. Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire is the first book in this bestselling new adult trilogy. The Beautiful Disaster series centers around the dynamic and interesting interaction between Abby Abernathy and the quintessential hard to resist bad boy, Travis Maddox, after a not so innocent bet.

What is destined for these two seemingly complete opposites? Will both get more than they bargained for in the end? I can't wait to find out.

Grab the first book in the Beautiful Disaster series and begin devouring the pages to find out what millions of readers are talking about.

Synopsis:

A New York Times and USA TODAY bestseller about a good girl dangerously drawn to the ultimate bad boy.

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.
Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer.

Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.
